Such a friendly-hearted person and very intelligent in the field of linguistics who is passionate about cultural relativism and justice. You can prepare well for exams if you just do what's assigned and follow the study guide. Definitely glad that I took this class and had a prof. like her. |

She is a fun teacher but very complicated when it comes to exams which are essay questions. It is not an simple class but passing it should not be an issue. Don't take the class if you want an simple A. |

She's an outstanding teacher and makes class fascinating. It's an simple class but not one that you can pass by doing nothing. I only did some of the readings but I went to every class because she discusses the readings. Just go to class, take notes, at least skim the readings,and you should be able to pass. Honestly there is no reason for anyone not to. |

Dr. Mahootian is great. She covers a wide range of topics within Linguistics. You will learn the basics; this is a great intro. Discussions can be hilarious! Take this class if you like Sociology and reading from different perspectives. |

Dr Mahootian is a wonderful person. Was a little out of wack because of personal things going on in her life, but over all very accommodating and simple going. Bery approachable, hillarious, and knowledgeable. I would definitely recommend her and take her again. |

She is a real friendly person and entertaining. However, she was so disorganized with class discussion, barely wrote notes on the board and when she did they were confusing, and her study guide did not reflect her exams at all. She also has her favorites and loves it when students ask questions even if they are irrelevant to the material being taught. |
