I have lived at Atkins circle for 2 years. It started off under excellent management. Then last year the complex was turned over to Village Green which might be one of the worst companies I have had the misfortune to rent from. I had an issue with my rent payment one month because my bank account had been hacked into and I needed to cancel the account and open a new one. Atkins circle would not take cash payment and wanted to charge a ridiculous amount to pay with credit or an online transfer. The issue wasn't that I didn't have the money; they just wanted me to incur late fees. Needless to say, they threatened me that I would be evicted if I ever paid late again. Parking is terrible. When youโ€™re taking a tour of the place they will tell you that there is enough parking for every apartment to have 2 cars. BS!!! If you get home anytime after 7:30pm you will not find a spot anywhere near youโ€™re building. Residents have resorted to parking in handicap spaces that are in front of buildings that do not have handicap accessibility. For example, my building has stairs leading to all of the apartments yet there are 2 handicap spaces directly in front. Last night I got home at 10pm and could not find anywhere to park so I went against my better judgment and parked in the handicap space. (Trust me I am not one of those people that you see at the store parking in designated handicap spots. I actually get angry like the rest of you when I see that, but in my 2 years living here I have NEVER seen an authorized handicap car parked there)When I woke up this morning to go to work, my car had been towed. To make the matter worse, when I went to the leasing office to get the number of the tow company, they gave me a phone number that had been disconnected. My next step was to call the police since all vehicles that are towed have to be reported to the authorities. Well, guess what? The shady tow truck company that Atkins Circle gave towing permission to, never followed legal procedures and did not report that they had taken the vehicle. This worried me immensely because it is also a law that if the owner of the vehicle does not contact the towing company within the allotted time, the company has the right to sell the vehicle at auction. Not only is it a major inconvenience that I had to spend a day hunting for my car because the office wouldn't help me, I also had to pay the towing fee and lose money by missing a day of work. The pools are hardly ever open because all weekend long college kids are spilling beer and peeing in them. The grass used to be kept up real nice but this year they hired some cracked out Mexicans that destroyed it. Security is terrible. My car has been broken in to twice. My neighborโ€™s car has had the windows smashed and everything taken, and my boyfriendโ€™s car was stolen all together! The construction of the apartments is not all bad. You can tell that they went cheap on a few things but the maintenance is awful. I have cracks in my walls and ceiling and my shower leaks at the bottom so the base board is stained brown. I have notified the office about both 8 months ago and have not seen any result. In 2 years I have had my air filter changed once, my smoke detectors checked once, and have called several times because my thermostat didnโ€™t work properly. In my opinion, when you are renting from a complex, management should want you to be there. They should be looking for ways to improve their services and your experience with them, and not looking for ways to inconvenience you. When problems arise, they should be helping you find solutions and not telling you there is no problem. I rented from winter '08 through summer 10. ...
