People, school has been in session for only five weeks, and the fashion disasters slapping me across the hallway have been ATROCIOUS! What happened to the good old days when we happily walked into class eager to show our fabulous styles and impress the girls and guys next to us? Wearing PJs to class and combining them with a pair of Ugg boots is a huge fashion no-no and should be for every student out there.
Ladies, if you are going to bring it, you better bring it from your hair to the shoes you wear. Wake up in the morning and opt for that style that screams school, work and sexy all in one. My personal favorite: fitted sweater dresses with belts! They are easy to wear, easy to accessorize and easy to find. Most of all, they are only $20 at Forever 21 and H&M. Pair your dresses with a nice black leggings or pantyhose because they are more comfortable than fighting with your pair of jeans. Moreover, a girl in pantyhose never fails to drive the guys crazy.
If you are that girl who wants to look Plain Jane casual, you can do that with a little bit of edge. Go for a nice graphic t-shirt in any color, pair it with your form fitted skinny jeans and always accessorize with a boyfriend blazer. Those blazers are hot on the market and can be found at Urban Outfitters for as cheap as $30. Never leave the house without accessorizing. A little bit of bling is not a bad idea. Decorate your hands with gold bracelets and earrings which are less than $8 at Charlotte Russe and Wet Seal. Shoes are the cream of the crop! Nine West, Aldo, Bakers and Payless all have exceptional winter boots of all lengths and sizes that can satisfy your shoe craving and look great with any look. My personal favorite would the knee-length boots for $70 at Bakers.
Finally, top off your look with a savvy hairstyle that bounces as you strut your stuff. Cheap products under $10 like Garnier can be found at Walgreens, which is ideal for women of every race. Make-up, however, should stay calm. Apply a little bit of your powder, quiet eye shadow with any shade of your favorite eyeliner, dark mascara, blush up those cheeks and never forget the lipstick. Try not to be over the top when you are getting ready for school.
As far as men’s fashion, being a guy is no excuse to wear the same shirt and jeans every day. I know Valentine’s Day is over, but you have got to keep impressing the ladies. Women love men oozing with that fresh-out-of the shower scent and keeping it clean. A nice plaid shirt with clean-cut jeans, paired with a bad boy leather jacket never goes wrong. Men can choose something even more casual like a t-shirt with a bright colored hoodie that can be found at Urban Outfitters or Old Navy. Complete that look with nice shoes from Footlocker and you are good to go.
One more thing to the soon-to-be fabulous people: don’t forget to cover yourself with a flattering winter jacket. Remember, the look does not carry you, you carry the look. Confidence is key!
