he is one of my favorite prof.s. it lots of work but he is clear and to the point.
Taken several courses with him, and all of them require LOTS of reading!! If you can focus on the books, you will be fine, otherwise drop the class as soon as you can! There isn't much work but you HAVE to keep up with readings for the discussions! Not looking forward to ANTH 355 with him next Fall!! >.<
Very fascinating class, and high quality educator. Zanca really chill person that is deeply involved into anthropology. Many would give a high rating to laid back prof. that gives all A's. Zanca is rational and impartial.
outstanding proffesor! Not cocky at all def knows his things, my second athro class and i love this one. Just read! Do the 3 papers (on the readings) and the exams are super simple! No way any one can fail his class.
Read the book, do the work, pay attention in class. It isn't difficult, but it is very fascinating. None of his projects are going to bowl you over. He knows what he's talking about and his courses are clear. He encourages students to go see him to discuss their grades. I don't see how anyone could fail this class.
I honestly do not know why so many people are HATING on prof. Zanca. In the first place, he isn't cocky. He knows his things, and expects a lot of his students. He grades impartially, and most of his courses are based off the readings. If youre looking for a prof. that you can be bffs with he is not that. Do the work, and pass the class, period.
He knows his material well and is simple on the eyes. The courses are not quite as dull as some other profs. He is friendlya cocky and does take too much time off, but overall I was fine with the class. If you read and pay attention you'll be fine.
This teacher regardless of grades will still fail you if he doesn't like you. Take courses from this prof. at your own risk....
He seems bored. Being an anthropologist he would probably rather be doing field work than sitting in a classroom. None the less, simple A if you show-up, take notes, and write the 3 papers.
I agree with the others, this guy missed more courses than most students would. I paid to have him teach me, not go to other colleges to give talks to their students. He's very full of himself. Talked with him about my work and he talked down to me the entire time. The books are dull too.
I wonder what a 50 year old man has going on that he can't do his job. I mean retirement is around the corner, so whats with all the vaycay? Hey! Northsimple I payed great money for this class, why doesn't your teacher ever want to show up and teach.
I think he should take some time to think about why he is teaching and maybe reconsider. His class is simple. Just show up, listen & take notes. The text book is useless. You read two ethnographies, which are somewhat fascinating. He seems to have little interest in teaching, and misses more courses than most students would.
Overall pretty simple so long as you show up. You have to read the extra materials for the papers/tests/exams, but the textbook is worthless so long as you listen to his courses. Whether you're an ANTH major or taking for a gen. ed -- he's a safe bet.
simple, simple. | |
Prof.Zanca is a knowledgeable person when it comes to the subject that he teaches. I very much enjoy his class and he does answer questions in and outside class. He gave me some guidelines regarding my essay for his class. He is a very friendly person.
I had 3 courses w/ this prof. and let me say he is not a bad person or a bad prof. but he honestly does not want to try. He frequently posted projects late on blackboard (sometimes hours before they were do) and he continually miss-assigned readings because he refused to use an updated edition of the text book. Go w/ Doc. Hageman.
he wants to be there as much as you. total d-bag |
