Dr. Stone knows his things and is completely relevant regarding current trends of teaching TESOL. He is active in ITBE. As far as classroom demeanor, he likes to tell jokes, anecdotes, and uses sarcasm at times. If some aren't culturally tolerant, then that is there problem. Dr. Stone is a great teacher and superb grammarian. Syllabus is clear.
VERY RUDE GUY! I liked him, he liked me, but he was a rude man! British jokes..sarcasm..its hillarious sometimes, but after a while it just gets old! simple A though. 5 papers, NO examS or tests! Very demeaning & degrading towards his students, kills participation from us! Not hillarious at all. Better than the rest of prof.'s in TESL though..
In my opinion, this is the great teacher NEIU has to offer. I had him for a Linguistics class, and I went into the class expecting to be bored out of my mind, but Stone made class fun every day with his sarcasm, wit, hilarious jokes, and his personal life stories from when he traveled the world. He takes attendance every day, but it was so worth i
I TOOK prof. STONE IN SPRING 2009. HIS CLASS IS fascinating AND HE'S SOMETIMES hillarious. HIS CLASS IS SUPPOSEDLY MANDATORY, BUT I WOULD'T GO SOMETIMES AND I STILL GOT A B. simple CLASS! |
