He is a very great prof.. Very knowledgable and excited about the material. The quizes are VERY simple, they include exactly what he talks about in class and also the same material from the textbook. You have to write two papers which he is not too tough on grading. I would definitely reccomend taking him. |

Great teacher! He doesn't accept papers by e-mail, which is just obnoxious, but otherwise, he's chill. read the book for the tests, but if you don't it's probably ok too. He's an easier grader than I expected (even on the 2nd paper). I think if you do well on the tests and say fascinating things in class, it will be reflected in your paper grade |

Excellent Lecturer, terrible Educator. He may be passionate about film but he seems to resent his students. He is unclear, anal retentive, inflexible, and hypocritical. He berates his students and attempts to crush them at any cost. Clearly he has issues that even a licensed therapist couldn't solve... |

My favorite prof at NEIU... took him for Intro CMN and 2 film courses thereafter (straight As). You will work difficult, but he is a VERY fascinating person, well educated, and hillarious. Syllabus dictates EXACTLY what he's looking for and how many points everything is worth. Highly recommend if you have a passion for film and can take the heat! |

As he says "You have to earn your A". Don't count on an A in this class. Make sure you know what you're talking about on papers, and expect to write a lot of them. |

Great class, took it last semester (Spring) and really enjoyed attending. Read the book, pay attention, and you'll be alright. There are 2 papers and 2 exams. Put some heart into it, and you'll definitely come out more knowledgeable and happy with your final grade. |

This prof. is outstanding! I will never watch movies the same again & I learned a lot. Textbook is actually required but the tests are simple! I think people who complain about him are not dedicated to their studies or missed too much class. He is very understanding when it comes to absences and also helps the students. I will recommend this prof. |

intelligent, very knowledgeable, awake in terms of social issues. The class can sometimes get very dull just because he discusses the film ad nauseam it turns into a "play the movie already" type of thing. also pray that you don't have rude classmates, Ritsema will call them out and it will get uncomfortable. |
