Took an upper level class with him--he's great. A year later, I find myself going back and reviewing the comments he wrote before writing for other profs. fascinating, considerate, friendly: you do need to read and participate in class to do well, but you can learn a lot from him.
Very great teacher, very fascinating class. I liked how interactively the class was designed, so that students collaborated with each other as well as working alone. I also appreciate that Prof. Barnett actually writes useful comments on papers. He is also accommodating outside of class, and is quite flexible and understanding about deadlines.
great teacher, great energy, understanding. He lets you improve on what you need help with. Practice was done daily in my class with him. If you work difficult, you will get a great grade and pass, Simple as that.
Very strict grader for a 101 class. Average grade he gives on a paper is C. If you write an amazing paper you can get a B. I have not heard of anyone getting an A on their papers. Too strict on attendance as well. Anything after 1 absence has an effect on your grade. Do yourself a favor and take a different prof.
im currently taking him now, lots of energy but noticed absolutely no teaching involved..wrote a few papers and got the same response "needs work" but he hasnt taught any material. so...what do i do? if he isnt going to instruct us then what tools do i have? pretty stressed out over this class out of all of em. think twice before taking this class.
Great teacher! always willing to help you become a better writer! he grades difficult on your ideas and warns you of this right away but helps you grow as a writer! Would recommend!
It's great to have such a great teacher my first semester at a new college. prof. Barnett is very accommodating, very friendly, very intelligent. I agree with other posters that the work is difficult work, but if you're not willing to do difficult work, it makes me wonder why you're in college.
Prof Barnett is an excellent teacher! The class is very dry material but he does the great he can with it and is very casual on deadlines. He taught a lot of useful information. One of the great teachers at NEIU |
