Daybreakers promises gory scenes full of bloddy mayhem
It looks like the vampire trend is here to stay, leaving fans thirsty for more blood-sucking action. The newly released thriller "Daybreakers" follows the story of Edward Dalton, a vampire hematologist in the year 2019, in which vampires are in charge of the futuristic world that is much the same as ours today.
Dalton (played by Ethan Hawke) must conform to the undead society created by an unknown spreading disease that turns people into vampires. As a researcher in a large corporation which tracks down humans and drains blood from them through tubes, Dalton tries to create a substitute-he's a vampire who doesn't like drinking blood.
Horrified by the human farming he sees at work and the realization that humans are being caught less and less (meaning less sustainability and more chaos), Dalton takes the only chance he's given to get out-to follow and trust two human survivors. One of them, Elvis (played by Willem Dafoe), was once a vampire, until a car accident led him to discover an unusual cure. But Dalton's new alliance with them sparks conflict with his younger brother: a vampire soldier who hunts down humans. Dalton and his companions set out to try and turn him back into a human using Elvis' cure but all three must avoid being caught by the human hunting army. Ultimately, it is up to Dalton to save his friends and defeat the head of the corporation before time is up and they become the meal. Although the ending is unclear, numerous scenes in "Daybreakers" are full of gory mayhem and mystery. Be prepared to see the bloodiest action on screen and jump out of your seat when creatures lurking in dark corners come out for a drink.
