15th Annual Fall into Fun Week
NEIU welcomes back students and staff with the 15th Annual Fall into Fun Week, which will run September 8-12. Attendees will be offered a variety of information, food and entertainment throughout the week by different departments on campus. There will also be some additions to previous years' events, including a performance of The Medium, an opera by the late Gian Carlo Menotti.
Fall into Fun Week was once called the welcome back week. Almost all schools offer something that resembles welcoming back students and staff. For new students, it is an opportunity to learn about campus resources, meet new people, discover the different organizations and really get a feel about the NEIU community. Returning students and staff are given the opportunity to reconnect with their friends and co-workers. Fall into Fun Week will be a chance for everyone to build and show their school spirit.
Although there will be a lot of events going on throughout the week, there are some particularly interesting events to watch for. One event that has been popular in recent years is the the Top Chef Competition, where deans from academic colleges will have a cook-off competition. All through the week attendees are invited to participate in the Eagle Quest Treasure Hunt, where participants will be given a chance to win prizes. On the last day of the week, all attendees are encouraged to come and check out the Outdoor Movie, hosted by Northeastern Programming Board (NPB,) which will be Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.
"Fall into Fun Week is not just for students, but for everyone, including faculty, family, staff and community. I hope to see everyone [there]," said Sharron M. Evans, Director of Student Activities Office.
The events are sponsored by the Student Activities Office, Campus Recreation, Office of the Dean of Students, Student Union, (NPB), Adult and Women Student Programs, Campus Auxiliary Services, Cultural Events Office, First Year Experience, Music Department, UTATU at CCICS, S.A.L.E. Adelante at El Centro, Sodexo Food Services and Beck's Bookstore.
