Who to Know and Where to go - Scholarship Office
Going to college in this age is a dangerously expensive thing. But, whether you are aware of it or not, there is relief from these expenses. Northeastern has a scholarships office that is bursting with financial opportunity.
The Office of Scholarships gives students the chance to be recognized and endorsed for their hard work and achievements. Any kind of scholarship can be a giant help when handling the mammoth debts which haunt and weigh in on you like a tyrant beast, even after you have received your education and left the university. Northeastern Alumni and scholarships office Director, Michelle Morrow, answered a few questions about the department.
Surprisingly, Morrow stated that only in recent years have students begun to inquire and apply for these scholarships. "This office was created back then," she explained "but there wasn't an Office of Scholarships. One thing I notice now is that more students are aware of scholarships. Before they didn't really know that we had institutional-type scholarships, probably because of the outreach that we do".
Ms. Morrows office deals, specifically with the Foundation Awards , Merit and Talent Scholar ship Awards, the Dean's Award, and the prestigious, Presidential Award (a full ride), though Ms. Morrow said that this may change, " if people are working to fund raise and also bring in new donors". Ms. Morrow thinks that it is important for students to be aware, and take advantage of these resources, "We try to find ways to get the word out to students, especially when they're new". It is imperative for students to realize that these financial opportunities actually exist and are attainable.
