Some music changes your life and some makes you wish you had no ears
Egnaro is about the only creative thing to come out of this "music" is the band name itself ... simply the word orange in reverse, as the Album title "The Panties Your Mother Laid Out For You" was put out locally by a studio named Reverse Orange Music, probably the band's own music studio. The impression is these guys are living out their midlife crisis at the expense of innocent listeners. All publicity shots on the album are of some woman posing in gaudy mall accessories.
This whole production simply does not shine in any way, shape, or form. There are ten tracks of done-before, monotonous, wanna-be-cool and generally bland, so-called rock-n-roll.
The only two tracks that stand out enough to rope in your musical curiosity, sound as if another musician actually wrote and produced them. Singer Patrick Joseph's vocal notes resemble Michael Stipe from REM. "Note to Self," the lyrics are slightly more sensible and tolerable, and the clapping rhythmic pulse is enjoyable enough for a mini gym workout. "Collect" contains layered guitar, rolling drumbeats, and a Bush-esque chorus and bridge elements. Here the lyrics could be better.
Other than these two mediocre songs though, the rest of the CD falls short in regards to lyrics, passion, creativity, and general impressing potential, even though they are plugged in and loud.
Typical of such hard-edged rock band blah, this crew has the ever-predictable rock ballad in "Big Something." There you will find more pining for lost love (the whole album's theme) with droning guitar, droning drums, droning bass, and a droning singer.
Basically, this album is so generic that it is probably the reason that there are cheesy almost naked pictures of some lady plastered all over the cover art.
Just a tip, save your money and your intellect and skip this one, you are better off taking a nap.
