The New Face of the P.E. Complex
The P.E. Complex may seem distant from the rest of the campus but it is the focal point for many activities offered to students. It is located on the southeast corner of the campus behind the Science Building and WTTW station. Inside, students will see various changes. The main floor of the gym has been refinished and new lockers have been added in the men's and women's locker rooms. Due to water leaks, the skylights in the hallway have been repaired. Also, the ceilings in the two steam rooms have been replaced.
Another addition is Dr. Moira Stuart, the new academic department head of Health and Physical Education.
"I am excited to be leading during this very important time. The faculty [is] working hard to prepare for an upcoming National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE) review process, as well as an immediate focus on curricular review and revisions."
Her background is in the field of sports psychology, and various news outlets around Chicago call her for her expertise on the psychology of athletes.
"My training in sport psychology and performance excellence is well suited to helping all individuals reach their goals both personally and professionally. Performance is still performance whther it is in the classroom or the gym," said Stuart. "My goals and focus are to ensure student success and to create a climate where students are engaged and develop as individuals and professionals throughout their academic careers."
Also, anyone that is interested in joining the NEIU intramural flag football or coed soccer programs must sign up by Tuesday, Sept. 21 in the P.E. Complex. Students interested in either sport have the option of signing up as a team of seven or join as a free agent to be slotted into a team.
