The Independent is a public forum for NEIU and its surrounding communities.
The Independent is run completely by students and receives no prior review or censorship of its content by anyone other than its student editors.
The Independent is published every other week except during summer and semester breaks. Deadlines are five (5) days prior to the issue date in which a contribution is to appear. Views expressed in letters are those of the university community, and not necessarily those of the Editorial Board.
The Editor-in-Chief is responsible for the content of the Independent, and views presented do not necessarily represent those of the administration, faculty, or students of NEIU.
The Independent is a member of the Illinois College Press Association and Associated Collegiate Press.
