Barack Obama’s acceptance speech was a good speech. However, I have heard better speeches from Obama. He touched on a few things that left me wanting more. His discussion on education, and of guaranteeing veterans a paid education, was the first thing I heard that intrigued listeners. Federal Funding for the Montgomery GI Bill has been cut on the federal level. Some states have picked up the slack though, such as Illinois. Although in Illinois, the bail out still falls short, leaving schools, such as NEIU, left holding the bag for the money. I asked, “How are you going to do that Barack?” but that question went unanswered.
Obama mentioned cutting frivolous government spending line by line if he had to. I asked, “Like what Barack?” The question went unanswered. Once again Obama has disappointed me. He is all talk and no substance. I like the talk but I haven’t heard anything about the walk. Until he can explain his policies they are nothing but talk.
McCain’s VP choice, Insanity or pure Genius?
The Governor of Alaska! She only has two years experience at that, a virtual unknown on the national stage, and a former beauty pageant contestant. Come on!
So far, the only real threat that the media has come up with about Sarah Palin, is her inexperience. In a debate, or any other situation, all that is needed is, “The inexperience is not on the top of the ticket.” Biden, the VP running mate for Obama, has been known to be a little on the sexist side. That could work in favor of the McCain Campaign during a Vice Presidential debate. On many issues, such as abortion, her views are personal, rather than political. Her oldest son, age 19, is in the US Armed Forces. This puts a clamp on those that say a politician is preaching about needing the war, but won’t send their own kids to Iraq or Afghanistan.
The woman vote has been a huge factor in this race with the entrance of Hillary Clinton into the primary race. Neither candidate has done a great job in attracting independent women voters. Palin has the opportunity to do that for McCain. Then again, only time will tell if that is true.
Obama has stood up for Palin on many of the recent negatives that have arisen stating that, “Families are off limits.” Two of the negatives are her husband’s DUI over 20 years ago, and her pregnant teenage daughter. This is a smart move by Obama. These things help make Palin seem more human and average. These are struggles that average Americans deal with, and can relate to. She seems like one of them, and not one of the ‘Washington Elite.’ After all, we elected a president with a DUI.
Palin has the Obama Campaign walking on eggshells, trying to find ways to discredit her without making themselves look bad. McCain has chosen the perfect silencer to the Obama strategy with Palin. Up until now, Obama has been trying to spin his inexperience as anti-establishment, pointing to McCain’s gray hair as being another cog in the wheel, in the Washington machine. McCain has a record of showing anti-establishment and reaching across the isle with his many years of experience.
Palin’s fresh face will give McCain the right look to prove that to the American people, and will silence that argument from Obama. Now Obama only has the number of homes that McCain has to keep any attacks going against McCain. Still, the condemnation about property ownership is coming from a person who bought his home from Tony Rezko.
