Stress relief at NEIU

As midterms are approaching, and winter is getting colder, you can’t help but stress out. However, stress can be relieved in a number of ways on NEIU’s campus. The student lounge in the basement of the E building is probably the least noisy place on the campus. Yoga, a traditional relaxing methodology, could be practiced, accompanied by some soft jazz, blues or any other relaxing music of your choice. Lie down on the floor comfortably, tune-in to your favorite music, and think of any remarkable achievement you have ever had, any forthcoming event or trip you are excited about, someone special who makes you smile, and or any other things or objects you like.

The PE Complex often offers wall-climbing and other physical activities. Wall-climbing is both a thrilling and relaxing sport. Since mental stress is often caused by the psychological pressure of exams or quizzes, you need an exciting activity that will change your mind and one that engages you physically.  For this, wall-climbing is indeed a good option.

A friend in need is a friend indeed. Similarly, a friend who is stressed could be a friend for relief. Massage is the most significant stress-relief method. You can give your friend a foot massage and your friend can massage your back or feet as well.

You can also surf the internet at the computer lab or library, browse music videos or your favorite TV show at Hulu.com, or grab a book from the library on your favorite subject and read it. So, next time you’re stressed out on campus and still have an hour until that next class, try out one of these ideas and kiss your stress goodbye.
