Who to Know and Where to Go: Health Services

Suffering from a cold?  Got a headache? Worried that you might have contracted some nasty bug at your buddys place this weekend? The Health Services office, located on the lower level in E-051, is here to help you assess these basic medical issues. All services are free and totally confidential.  “If you’ve got a health concern that’s bothering you, go to the office and get it checked out,” says Director Jessica Lettow.

They do screening tests for pregnancy, blood sugar, tuberculosis, strep, cholesterol levels, hemoglobin testing, HIV/AIDS testing and testing for other sexually transmitted diseases.  They also administer vaccines for the flu and meningitis. Contraceptives are available in the office, and they can prescribe most forms of birth control.  Appointments can be set up online at their page on the NEIU website. The office has been in the same location for twenty years and isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. So, if you think you may be pregnant, or you just need an ice pack, now you know where to go.
