Rainbow Push

“The head of Operation [Rainbow] Push has been on the record as being on smack and juice.” Said Charter and Rules Committee Chairman David Benjaih. The approval for a Rainbow Push Chapter has been approved at NEIU. This is the second time the charter has come up and this time has passed with an overwhelming majority in an 8 to 1 vote. “I think it would be really cool to have an organization like this at our school.” Said one senator. It was a sentiment that was carried out among the other 8 senators that voted in favor of Rainbow Push. Keenan Arnold SGA president also put his accolades for the club’s charter to be approved. Benjaih who mentioned that the organization was still running a website for the chapter before it has been approved said,”I thought it to be inappropriate for a website to be up and active.” According to Chapter 1 Section 1 of the charter and rules committee an organization cannot be working actively on campus before they are approved by the SGA. Arnold mentioned that a web page is not “on campus” and is a large forum of free speech. Benjaih said that he had requested that they pull down the web page the Tuesday Before the Thursday meeting until the organization was approved. “It was just a matter of a show of respect.” Said Benjaih. A check of www.rainbowpushchapter798.com showed the webpage was not functioning on Dec. 31 long after the club was chartered. According to the Oct. 23 Independent “Students interested in joining need only provide a one-time $15 fee which satisfies Rainbow Push’s annual membership requirement.”
