There are plenty of things for college students to do without having to cough up a lot of money. With the current state of the economy, having some FREE things to do in the city would be fun. Some of these are city sponsored events but most are local and have a more intimate feel. No matter what you are looking to do this month, There should be something with the list provided below that should spark the average college student’s interest.
– Free Yoga Every Saturday at Millenium Park 7-11am, ends September 19.
– Free Wine Tastings every Friday 6:30 – 8:30 at Fion Wine and Spirits.
– September 16-18: Berghoff Oktoberfest at Federal Plaza Square. Enjoy live music, food and LOTS of BEER!!!
– September 18-Oct 31: Weekly Fireworks Show: Fridays and Saturdays 9pm at Navy Pier, a 10 min show set to music over Lake Michigan.
– September 19: Apple Fest 8am-4pm at Giddings Park. Celebrate Fall with farmers market, food, and side walk sales.
– September 24: Blogapalooza 5-7pmThe 900 Shops on the Magnificent Mile. Meet bloggers from all over, enjoy food samples and how-to showings.
– September 25 & 26: 4th Annual Hyde Park Arts and Crafts AdventureOutdoor Courtyard, University of Chicago, Hyde Park. Local and national artist displays, jewelry, and some demonstrations of work done.
– September 26: Chinatown Moon FestivalAt Chinatown Square. A Chinese harvest celebration features dragon and lion dances, kung fu performances, lantern and talent shows, merchants, kids’ activities and more.
