The university announced the schedule of events surrounding the Inauguration of President Hahs as president of Northeastern Illinois University. The events are scheduled over a four-day period from Tuesday Sept. 4 through Friday Sept. 7.
All events are free and open to students and the whole university community with the exception of the black tie gala on Friday night. Proceeds from the gala will help to defer costs of the other inaugural events.
When asked for a budget for the events Vick Roman-Lagunas told the Independent that one did not exist. Director of Public Relations Erika Krehbiel also said that there was no budget for the events but that private donors and a black tie gala would help off set the event. Krehbiel said that an anonymous private donor wholly funded the President’s Garden.
Krehbiel said that Assistant Provost Vicky Roman-Lagunas was individually approving all expenditures for the event, Roman-Lagunas told the Independent that funds for the events were coming out of the university’s events budget and that no extra money would be required from other programs to fund the events.
