This year, a group of twelve students attended the alternative Spring break trip to Arizona. We met many organizations throughout the state of Arizona through an organization called Borderlinks. We learned about immigration issues and how they are impacting states, schools and communities. We also learned about justice issues, such as immigrants crossing the border illegally or legally and being detained in prisons and detainment centers. We were able to witness immigrants being sentenced through Operation Streamline; we met up with attorneys, and briefly spoke with members of Border Patrol. Everyone who we encountered gave their opinions on immigration and some believed that we can change the system if we all take interest in learning about it. Please come by SU003 on April 23 at 7pm to hear all of our stories and about how we can take action on the issue of immigration!
