The Indian Student Association (ISA) is hosting their annual Diwali show on November 2. Diwali is called the ‘Festival of Lights’ and holds religious significance to Hindus commemorating the triumph of good over evil and the start of the new year but celebrated by Indians of all religions. The ISA has put on a Diwali show for the last five years, says Sunil Mahdeshwar, President of the ISA. The show this year will not only feature traditional Indian dances and performances by students, but will also have an international fashion show as well as stand-up comedian Samson Koletkar, who performed at the ISA’s summer show. A portion of the sales will also go towards Asha for Education. Asha, which means hope in many Indian languages, is a not for profit organization that provides education to underprivileged children in India. Dinner will be served after the show as well as an open dance floor until midnight. Tickets are five dollars but NEIU students receive a two-dollar discount when purchasing advance tickets in Village Square. Tickets will go on sale from October 29 to November 2.
