Stage Center

Stage Center is a center of theatre and learning at NEIU. It is a place where theatre comes to life and to get involved it takes. “Any Student it doesn’t matter major minor, we even open up to people outside of the school if they are interested in terms of that we try to involve our student first. Anyone who wants to learn we have lots of work,” according to Anna Antaramian Professor in the Department of Communications, Media, and Theatre.

Professor Antaramian continued, “We offer 4 Main Stage Productions [Two each semester] the reason is the production quality is higher we have major sets, major lighting, major costumes, and large production value is invested in that.” The Main Stage Productions for the Fall Semester of 2007 include Mrs. Warren’s Profession by George Bernard Shaw, and The Skin of Our Teeth by Thornton Wilder.

“There will be 6 Studio Productions [Three each semester.] The studio series is for student directors and students who have not yet stage managed before, for people who are learning sound and have never done sound before.” Professor Antaramian stated. The auditions for the Main Stage Productions for fall and for two of the Studio Productions are August 28th and 29th which is the first week of classes. For Auditions Slots call, 773.442.5975

All the Shows are free with your NEIU student ID. Professor Antaramian gave some advice in how to see a show NEIU has a small theatre space of only about 100 seats so this is the advice she had to offer. “The Best thing to do if you’re not going the first weekend of a show is to call and make a reservation.” The shows do sell out and tickets are still free with your student ID with a reservation.
