Opening day for the building is Jan. 11, where students can walk in and join group exercise classes. A variety of classes are offered such as: Hard Core Abs, Zumba, Boxing Workout, Pilates, Spin & stretch, Cardio Kickboxing, and that is just naming a few. All of these classes are offered at specific times and days and taught by actual certified instructors. On Feb. 23, Campus Recreation is holding its annual Health Fair, where the entire facility is open for students to come in and check out their blood pressure, glucose testing, body assessments, and massages. You cannot miss the big Zumba dance party that day either! The Fair is also the first day of the Golden Eagle 5K registrations. Be one of the first to sign up for free and if you want T-shirts and prizes it is only $12.
Exercise is not the only option Campus Recreation offers. Add some excitement and adventure to your life as the Outdoor Adventure Club is planning on a Ski/Snowboarding trip once a month in the spring! It is an all inclusive trip where you get picked up from NEIU. Moreover, you can bring anyone you want with you. The trip will take you to Devil’s Head and cost only $89. If outdoor adventure is your calling, then express your interest in a backpacking trip and kayaking. Or is indoor adventure more your type? Campus Recreation offers an open high ropes course and wall climbing.
Having an adventure and working out is always fun, but to prove the variety NEIU offers, come take a dip in the eight lane 25-yard swimming pool, with a 14 ft. diving well.
