”Skintastic” Food That Works from the Inside

It’s fascinating, the questions I get from women when it comes to food. From “what can I make in 10 min tonight” to “I have 20 bucks for dinner chef…what can I make?” I have always have had a simple approach to food, but I always try to look at the health benefits that I not only use myself – but what would be good for women as well.

A few years ago, when I worked for a company where 90 percent of my clients were women, I found that the best approach was a saying that I adopted, “eat food – not too much – mostly veggies”. The one thing I believe that women can think about when eating is, ”will this also be good for my skin? ”

There are so many products out there to treat the outside, but we need to think of the inside as well. Drinking plenty of water and incorporating leafy vegetables is something that is talked about all the time, but we should think about juices as well. Not the juices that are loaded with sugars which defeat the purpose, but smoothies with fresh berries and a few leafy greens incorporated as well. YES… leafy greens IN your fruit smoothies. Redefine the way you think about food and think how radiant your skin will be.

First, always shopping the perimeter of the grocery store where the fruits and veggies are is the key to knowing where your ”skin power” lives. Things that can sabotage your efforts are: soda, fried foods, and an over -abundance of dairy prod- ucts. You want to look for fruits and veggies that are high in beta carotene to help your skin have that youthful glow. Car- rots and butternut squash are a couple of items that have a high compound of beta carotene along with other nutrients that that are good, not just for your skin, but your body as well.

Also beware of products that say ”natural ingredients” on the label. Check the labels of juices, most of time that “natural ingredients” pitch means that there is a high amount of extra sugar to compensate for taste. Keep in mind ladies, that you’re trying to get knock out the unhealthy looking skin, and extra sugar will not help.

Look into incorporating beets as well, which has anti- oxidants which translates to power for your skin. Also drink green tea, which is loaded with not only major health benefits – but will keep your skin looking younger. So ladies, the next time you pick up your favorite moisturizer and other products to keep you as beautiful as you are, don’t forget to take a trip to the produce aisle of the store to get your internal “skin power” to help make your light shine inside and out.
