Tired of the same old scrambled eggs or sick of being sunny side up? Try making a frittata! A frittata is similar to an omelet but has a little extra oomph. Instead of being folded over like an omelet, it’s open-faced and, depending on your preference, more fluffy.
A frittata can contain ANYTHING; for example, do you like cheese? Add cheese to it. Or how about meat? Throw in some bacon. Do you want tomatoes, potatoes, onions, peppers, spinach and broccoli? No problem! This really is a dish you can make your own.
Ingredients:
– 6 eggs
– your choice of veggies
Directions:
- First, preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
- Place an oven safe skillet on your stove with olive oil, and let that heat up on medium.
- Cut up your veggies and add them to the oven safe skillet.
- Beat your eggs. Remember, the more you beat them, the more air is incorporated into the mixture and the fluffier the frittata (the same goes for omelets).
- After your veggies are cooked take the skillet off the heat and add them to the beaten eggs.
- Wipe the skillet off, add some more oil and let it heat up.
- Once the oil is hot add the egg/veggie mixture.
- Watch it cook, occasionally shifting the pan in a back-and-forth movement to make sure it doesn’t stick to the bottom.
- Once the bottom sets and the top is still gooey, take the pan and stick it in the oven, which should be at 350 degrees.
- Let it cook for roughly 5 minutes.
- Take it out and enjoy! If everything went well you’ll have a fluffy egg “pie” filled with your favorite vegetables.
