The NEIU Programming Board (NPB) organized ‘Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? – Cafeteria Edition 2010,’ the event was a part of the university’s ongoing international week celebration. The title of the event refers to the 90s PBS game show based on Brøderbund Software’s ‘Carmen Sandiego’ franchise, as detailed on the fan site, carmensandiego.info.
The event was presented by Omar Gonzalez and Daniel Clark from the NBP in the cafeteria. Participating students were asked geographical trivia questions; like naming the state capitals, guessing the countries by their flags and maps, word jumble was also played for guessing world capitals and countries. The usage of Google and other sites were strictly prohibited and students could win and participate only once, so more students were able to get a chance to participate. The winners were rewarded with NPB t-shirts and toffees. Besides trivia questions, Play Station 3 Move sport games were also being set up and students were encouraged to play.
Events like these are organized, so students can have a chance to test their general knowledge and gain it as well.
