Alpha Psi Lambda: Associate Member Pledge Dance

Every semester there is a pledge line, Alpha Psi Lambda holds a large celebration. This celebration, called the Associate Member Pledge Dance, allows Alpha Psi Lambda to show off their current associate members.

Held in the small gym of the Campus Recreation building, over a hundred Alpha Psi Lambda members, their families, and friends attended. Members from other chapters, as far as Texas, were present on this night. This was not just a gathering. It was a time for members to reminisce about their time at NEIU. The family bond between the members and their community was exemplified at this event; where everyone treated each other like family.

At this event they talked about how the R.I.G.H.T.E.O.U.S. Rho chapter of Alpha Psi Lambda was founded. Brother Rho talked about how his line came about founding the Northeastern Illinois University chapter in 2005. Jason “Hu-Re” Garcia spoke about the reasons why Alpha Psi Lambda was founded in 1985. He said that Alpha Psi Lambda helps create a community where skin color doesn’t matter.

The Associate Member educator presented the Associate Members and their Pledge Parents to the audience. After that, the Associate members performed a stroll. They then presented a banner they had worked together to make. The Associate Members that presented on this night were: Diana Armenta (Captian,) Claudia Madrid, Karen Orozco, Madeline Flores, Kim Roth, Daniella Barrato, Joseph Winfield, Victor Montes, Estela Cobian, and Teela Williams. Omega Delta Phi Probate

Omega Delta Phi is a multicultural service/social fraternity that started a chapter at Northeastern Illinois University Spring 2010. At their probate they introduced themselves to the campus community. Members from Greek organizations on and off campus attended this event.

Other Omega Delta Phi members from as far away as Texas showed up for this event. The nine founding members of the Northeastern Illinois University chapter of Omega Delta Phi appeared in the Quad wearing red and silver masks. They gave a special greeting to all the other Greek organizations present at their probate. Then the founding members gave a brief history of their organization’s founding along with the mission statement.

Each member of the NEIU founding line then gave a short speech about his Big; where he was from, what his major was, and something unique about him. After introducing all of their Bigs, the members gave little speeches about who they were. After each member gave his speech, he removed the mask, revealing who he was to the audience. When all the members were unmasked, they were “knighted.” By being knighted, they were officially announced as a chapter of Omega Delta Phi. Each member had his nickname announced as he was knighted. After they were introduced, the new founding line did a part of a stroll for the audience.

The founding line of the NEIU chapter (O.M.E.R.T.A) of Omega Delta Phi is: #1 Javier “Sir Voltage” Peralta, #2 Daniel “Sir Sincero” Sosa, #3 Daniel “Sir Renegade” Estrada, #4 Miguel “Sir Kolossus” Palma, #5 Adan “Sir Hype” Perez, #6 Denny “Sir Alakran” Esquivel, #7 Ismael “Sir Havok” Alvarado, #8 Victor “Sir Neza” Gonzalez, and #9 Jairo “Sir Ambicioso” Arellanes.
