Spring break – a perfect occasion to run away from Chicago’s sunny, snowy rainy spring to the places of consistent temperature with 90-degrees, a beach and cocktails, if possible. Considering the fact that this kind of setting doesn’t really fit our student budgets, NEIU Adventure Club and the Northeastern Programming Board (NPB) decided to organize something more affordable for those whose wallets agree that Florida and Central America are just too far. From setting up tents (and moving them next day to a different location without taking them apart), hiking, walking four miles through the biggest cave in the world, to enjoying the dusk around the campfire and breathing in the aroma of smores, this trip was truly a fun-filled adventure. We didn’t get sun tanned, but we did try balancing on a slack line. Now, doesn’t that sound way cooler? To prove the fact that Mammoth Cave National Park was a perfect alternative place to spend that shortest week off ever, the Adventure Club wasn’t the only club from NEIU to be enjoying the nature of Kentucky – the Earth Science club was also there exploring the caves and welcoming us to a delicious campfire dinner.
