There are so many things we can do and many places to go. The city is known for their delicious famous pizza, amazing landscapes and its lively night clubs, to name a few. Although Chicago is known for its rich history; its collection of museums provide a fun, enlightening experience for all who are looking for something to do. The Field Museum is located right by the lake and next to Soldier Field on Lake Shore Drive. You can check out various exhibits that consist of artifacts along with information discussing its history, location and other interesting facts. Each exhibit offers the patrons an opportunity to learn about cultures from around the world.
There are permanent exhibits about culture, and nature – showing how life formed, different cultures and species that existed back in time, the kinds of works of art that were made, lifestyles and customs of the ancient peoples, and more. Displays they have year-round are: the Americas, Sue, Evolving Planet, the Ancient Americas, Ecosystems, Asia and the Pacific, Nature Walk, and many more.
There are temporary exhibits, which are paid for, at the Field Museum, lasting from months to a year or even longer. Currently, there is the “Real Pirates” exhibit open until October 25th, so check it out before it’s gone! You will find out about pirates’ adventures, well-known pirates of the oceans and seas, the life they went through (both their successes and hardships) and the treasures found from nautical archeologists.
One of the coming attractions the museum will put on display is “The Nature of Diamonds.” Starting October 23rd through March 28th, the event will showcase diamonds and jewelry from ancient and modern times, from all over the world.
All who attend should expect to pay a fee for admission, but there are days throughout the year where entry is free to the public. Residents of Chicago do receive discounts, along with children, students and senior citizens. The museum has package deals that offer access to various exhibits not available to those who pay for basic admission.
The museum district is as synonymous with the city of Chicago like the Sears Tower or Wrigley Field. From beautiful artifacts to unique pieces, the Field Museum will offer any patron vast knowledge from past, present and future. It will deliver an experience one will never forget.
