Candidates for 2009 NEIU Student Government Elections

Eduardo Arabu Jr.Position: President

First action:Unlike the other SGA presidential candidates, I have developed a series of relationships with professors, department and college leaders, staff members, and key university executives, therefore, my first planned action upon installment into office is re-positioning the Student Government Association within the university community. I will be seeking several non-SGA students to work on my staff to communicate and develop recommendations for higher education policy at Northeastern Illinois University.

David BenjaihPosition: President

First action:Hold open student forums. Meet with administrative officials to affect changes to increase the effectiveness of the SGA as a negotiating body. Provide allowances in the SGA for the establishment of coalition on the part of the students of the state. Contact other state institutions for the formation of an Academic Rights Coalition.

Yesoe YoonPosition: Vice President / Student Trustee

First action:Need to know more parliamentary procedures to lead the meeting more effectively, and have more organization, ask for more cooperation in S.G.A. My plan is to make students more involved in S.G.A. and ultimately on campus. In order to do that, I surely have to listen to all of you.

Jose FulgencioPosition: Student Trustee

First action:Advocate for textbook rental system and for the establishment of having dorms on campus. Have a townhall meeting for students to have their voice be heard and have NEIU admministrators and board members present so the students know their voice is being heard.

Sebastian CzerechPosition: Senator

First action:Proposing extended hours of operation for the university library (especially during the finals week), and stricter enforcement of waste segregation.

Cesar MirandaPosition: Treasurer

First action:As treasurer, my job would be to make sure that the student government budget is both fair to student organizations and balanced. Second, I will address concerns and assist the president in working with a balanced budget.

Sunil M.Position: Treasurer

First action:Get to know the current SGA administration, communicate some of my ideas, listen to theirs, and work out a realistic plan for the year ahead.

Xochitl JaramilloPosition: Secretary

First action:Continue to work with the student government on the bike program.Set a plan of action with the new administration.
