Independent wins second place in national competition

From February 26 through March 1, nine staff members of the Independent attended the Associated Collegiate Press National Journalism Convention in San Diego. Student newspapers from throughout the U. S. entered in the convention’s Best of Show contest within their appropriate categories. In the category of non-weekly four-year university newspaper, the Independent won second place. The staff would like to thank the student body of Northeastern Illinois University for their readership and their feedback. Without you, there would be no Independent.
