Goals for the Image Art Club

The new leadership of the Image Arts Club is looking into taking on the arts at NEIU head on. This included six students, club officer Jennifer Binder and art professors on Nov. 6 to discuss goals for the Image Art Club to do over the next year.

Goals that were discussed included installing a hanging system with hooks for the artwork in the gallery so that artwork does not fall down. Another issue discussed was, since at least one piece of artwork gets stolen a semester purchasing and putting up security cameras. Other possibilities also discussed were fundraisers to make these things happen.

President of the Image Art Club, Jennifer Binder, says, “We want to become exposed around campus so people could see who we are.” She also mentioned that it will bring unity between artists on campus. This is what was discussed at the hour-and-a-half meeting that students trickled in and out of. As for if all these goals will be able to be achieved, Jennifer says, “I hope to, we have a lot of work cut out for us.”

A professor who was there in attendance also brought up the idea of doing a community mural. Another goal was to have an art fair at the school. Some other goals included charity organizations, bringing in vocal artists such as Jay Ryan, having guest speakers come in and speak and getting passes to go to different art museums.
