The new Golden Eagles

In NEIU gear, Professor Flora Llacuna, Coordinator of the Student Enrichment Programs, helped welcome newly enrolled (E-08) freshman at Alumni Hall on August 28.

This is a way for the new students to become aquainted with the NEIU community. Free pizza, cookies and refreshments were served. The event commenced with a slideshow of upper classmen, and the various recognized student organizations at the school. The song “Coming Together” by Seal played in the background arousing emotion.

The slideshow was then followed by a game called Play it Fair. The object of the game is to meet as many people as possible. By the end of the game everyone should have met each other. The game included a championship game of rock-paper-scissors, the revealing of birthdays and many more interactive activities. The importance of supporting and encouraging one another throughout the college experience was emphasized.

Also in attendance, The Freshman Leadership Institution (FLI) was on hand to enlist freshman, students, leaders, thinkers and innovators. This allowed opportunities to meet new people, to become leaders, stating your beliefs and having fun.

Everyone that stayed to the end received a Golden Eagles ’08 T-shirt.
