NEIU’s diversity in graduation

Diverse – Issues in Higher Education revealed that Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU) is among the top universities nationwide in baccalaureate (Bachelor’s) and post-baccalaureate (Masters) degrees issued to students of diverse ethnic backgrounds.

The figures are based off of 2006-2007 preliminary Department of Education data. These are based off of the 4,314 degree-granting institutions in the United States as recorded by the U.S. Department of Education’s National Center for Educational Statistics. The stats for Bachelor’s Degrees are as followed.

For degrees earned in Education by Hispanics, NEIU is ranked 15th. Degrees in Education earned by Asian Americans NEIU is ranked 15th. Degrees in Education earned by all minorities, NEIU is ranked 27th. For the number of Degrees earned in Ethnic, Cultural and Gender Studies by African Americans, NEIU is ranked 28th. Degrees in Mathematics and Statistics earned by Hispanics NEIU is ranked 35th. Degrees in English Language and Literature/Letters by African Americans, NEIU is ranked 43rd. Degrees in all disciplines earned by Hispanics NEIU is ranked 78th.

From the same report, here are NEIU’s rankings for Masters Degrees earned by ethnically diverse students.

For degrees earned in Ethnic, Cultural and Gender Studies by African Americans NEIU is ranked 1st. For degrees earned in Ethnic, Cultural and Gender Studies earned by all minorities NEIU is ranked 4th. For degrees earned in Mathematics and Statistics earned by Asian Americans, NEIU is ranked 25th. For degrees earned in Mathematics and Statistics earned by all minorities, NEIU is ranked 31st. For degrees earned in Social Science and History by African Americans, NEIU is ranked 47th. Lastly, for degrees earned in Education by Hispanics NEIU is ranked 49th.
