NEIU admissions welcomes Hilton

On Feb. 25, Dr. Eric Hilton began the position of admissions director to NEIU. Hilton has 18 years of college admissions experience and joined the NEIU community because he believes it is the next step in his professional career. “I really like the university community, it is a great fit for me,” said Hilton.

Hilton is energetic about the work his office is doing for the university. “Northeastern’s time has come for great opportunity. It is a university on the move,” said Hilton. The Office of Admissions is working diligently to put specialized programs and initiatives into place to spruce up the recruitment drive for NEIU.

On March 6, NEIU held an Open House. Hilton also mentioned the extensive marketing plan the university has in place to reach out to prospective students. “We have to be cognizant of what our competitors are doing. Part of the equation to attract students is sending powerful messages to certain mediums,” said Dr. Hilton.

Hilton began his educational career at The Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in communication. Hilton went on to attain a master’s degree in physical education. Lastly, the new admissions director has a doctorate in higher administration education.

Hilton believes passionately in strong leadership and revealed that NEIU has cohesive team chemistry, which is important for the progression of the university community. Hilton said, “The most important thing I and the university can do is pave a way for students that will provide a solid educational experience, which will impact their lives.”
