The Muslim Student Association (MSA) held an event on Feb. 11 in the NEIU Auditorium, which was a part of the Find Your Bridge to Faith tour. MSA organized the event with the intention to help others understand the religion of Islam. MSA Vice President Imran Nanlawala said, “This will hopefully clear up any misconceptions they have, and help them understand the religion of Islam.”
The event, titled “My Journey to Islam,” featured guest Yousuf Estes, who was raised and educated in Texas as a Christian, and went on to become a very successful business man. He became a music minister and a preacher of the Bible, and was a U.S. federal chaplain and delegate to the United Nations Peace Summit for religious leaders. At the event, he discussed his life, and how he converted to Islam after being raised Christian.
Omer Hussaini, who has been a member of MSA for the past three years said, “There are lots of misconceptions about Islam. We just want to clear them up by informing those who do not understand what Islam is about.”
According to vice president Nanlawala, the MSA is planning to have more events like these so that they can better inform the general masses about Islam. It is their duty and privilege to present the religion to those who want to learn about it.
