Blanca Ocasio, 19, died in a crash near Armitage and Kedzie Avenues. She was 19 years old. According to News Affairs officer John Mirabelli, “the 19 year old female was riding east on Armitage Avenue around 4 p.m. when an industrial vehicle heading east on Armitage Avenue made a right hand turn, southbound onto Kedzie Avenue. She was pronounced dead later at 4:37pm.”The report states that she was talking on a cell phone while riding. The driver of the truck was ticketed for making an illegal right hand turn.
Her mother Martha Ocasio told ABC-7 news. “She is my oldest. There were five apples in the tree, and now I only got four.” Ocasio is survived by her mother and four siblings.
