Balloon animals, laser tags and free corn were some of the highlights of NEIU’s ‘Fall into Fun.’ The weeklong series of events, billed as a ‘taste’ of Northeastern featured free food, a sushi tasting, a NASCAR and PACMAN simulators and free musical performances. The final event for the main campus was an outdoor showing of Pirates of the Caribbean-At World’s End held in the University Commons.
The festival also featured the Eagle Quest scavenger hunt. Three person teams were given a sheet with different questions regarding the school campus, history and staff, as well as a clue that involved dressing up in the Eagle mascot costume.
The most notable of the events was on Tuesday, September 11 was the ‘Top Chef’ Competition an Iron Chef-esque competition that featured President Hahs, VP of Finance Mark Wilcockson, Provost Lawrence Frank, and the VP of Student Affairs Melvin Terrell. The competitors chose from a table of ingredients that included shrimp, pita bread, bananas, and noodles and had an hour to complete their dish all under the eyes of judges and students in the cafeteria. The dishes were then presented to the judges for tasting. The winning dish and the Top Chef was none other than President Sharon Hahs.
