May 5, 2007, Springfield Illinois – Governor Rod Blagojevich’s Senior Advisor Bob Arya presented the fourth annual Governor’s Medallion, a purchase prize presented at the Awards in Excellence Ceremony held in Des Plaines at Oakton Community College’s Koehnline Museum of Art.
Hsuan-Hsiu Hung, a student at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, was elected recipient of the aforementioned Governor’s Medallion of Excellence. Her painting “Suitcase No. 2” was the elected one of four winners in this competitive juried statewide competition.
This competition started out with 279 student artists entering 719 works which was then narrowed down to just 50 finalists.- But Hung was not the only student artist to shine that day – Our own Lourdes Harper of Northeastern Illinois University was made recipient of Honorable Mention for her painting “Wishing.” And another Northeastern Illinois University student, Tanya Milojkovic, came home proud with the title Finalist recipient for her painting “Untitled II.”
